Did you think when you became an adult that all of your acne problems would just magically vanish? Wrong! For me and so many others out there, adult acne is a constant, daily struggle. It makes you feel ugly, ashamed and really takes a toll on your self esteem. As an esthetician, I have learned that acne has internal and external causes. It’s important to determine the cause of your acne so that you can treat it properly. Acne isn’t normal, and if you have it that means that something is not right. I have done so much trial and error over the years with products, diet changes, exercise routines, stress management, you name it.
Sometimes that is what you have to do to figure out what is causing your acne. I have learned if your insides are balanced and healthy, the outside will follow. The skin is a reflection of what’s going on with the inside of our body. With all of my research, I have found that most adult acne is caused by hormones and digestive issues. You would not believe what hormones can do! Not just female hormones, but stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. Having balanced hormones is essential. I have learned most of my acne was caused by stress, which in turn led to digestive issues, as stress wreaks havoc on your digestive system. Diet also played a big role for me. Cutting back on sugar, dairy and carbs helped greatly. I was also getting migraines from sugar, which I didn’t realize until I cut back.
We think we can hide our stress and anxiety because no one can see that, but it shows on your face and body. So it really isn’t hidden after all. Staying hydrated is also important. Drink lots of water. I was chronically dehydrated, which led to my body producing more oil and causing more break outs. Many young females are already oily, so it’s important to keep the oil balanced in your skin. Another thing, don’t pick at it! This only delays healing and causes scarring. My acne is not totally gone, but is so much better than it was. There will still be the occasional acne due to my monthly cycle, but overall my skin has greatly improved. If you struggle with adult acne, just know you are not alone. I would love to hear about your experiences with acne and what you did to treat it.
Why The Sanitas Tea Tree Mask Helps With Breakouts
If you struggle with breakouts like I do, you have probably tried every product under the sun. As an Esthetician, I have learned that the most important ingredients to treat acne are salicylic acid, clay, sulfur and tea tree oil. Most products you purchase for acne only contain one of these ingredients, two if you are lucky. Sanitas is an amazing product line overall. Many of their products are aggressive and you really see fast results when using them. The Sanitas Tea Tree mask is the most amazing product I’ve used for acne so far. It includes 3 of the 4 acne fighting ingredients: salicylic acid, clay and tea tree oil. It can be used all over the face as a mask, which greatly helps for those with oily skin or as an on the spot treatment. I typically use it as an on the spot treatment. It’s fast drying and is great for reducing inflammation and healing acne. Be careful not to over use this product, or leave it on too long as it can make your skin become dry. This mask runs around $25- $30 depending where it’s purchased. The Sanitas product line is typically carried in salons, spas and Dermatologist offices, but can also be purchased on some online sites including Amazon. I highly recommend the Sanitas Tea Tree mask for those of you who struggle with oily skin and breakouts. I think you will be pleased with the results you get. If you have used this product, I’d like to hear about your experience with it.
So, let me tell you why I love beauty samples and subscriptions! I absolutely love beauty products, and am always trying new things to help with anti-aging and for the overall health of my skin. A great way to do this without spending a lot of money is by using beauty samples. You can often get free samples with skin care and make up purchases. Several companies do this such as Sephora, Ulta, Coastal Scents, etc., and even salons and spas will often give out free samples to their customers. You don’t even have to do a service. Just by showing an interest in their products they will give you free samples to try. If you are willing to spend a little money, $10-15 per month, you can join IPSY or Birchbox and have a monthly subscription to try samples. I’ve had an IPSY subscription for the last 4 years and I absolutely love it! Products can be very expensive, so I highly recommend trying samples first. There have been some products I wasn’t crazy about that I really thought I would like, so you never know until you try something how you will like it.
I would like to hear about your experiences obtaining free samples, if you have any monthly subscriptions, and your thoughts about them.
